Personal Experience & Biography
Kwan Jie is a clinical psychologist registered under the Malaysian Allied Health Professionals Council and the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology. She is deeply passionate about supporting the emotional and developmental wellbeing of children and adolescents.
Her clinical training has equipped her to work with a wide range of psychological concerns in children and adolescents, including anger management, mood-related difficulties, trauma, autism-spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and specific learning disorders (SLD).
Kwan Jie has also worked with the refugee community in Malaysia, where she worked closely with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers to support children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced significant trauma, including sexual abuse, torture, and war-related adversities. This experience has strengthened her commitment to trauma-informed care in all aspects of her clinical work, particularly when working with children who struggle emotionally due to adverse life events (i.e. disruption of family due to separation/family, history of abuse etc.).
In her clinical practice, Kwan Jie integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and play-based interventions. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment where children feel heard and empowered. Recognizing the crucial role of a child’s ecosystem, she actively involves parents, caregivers, and educators in the intervention process to ensure meaningful and long-term care.
