Personal Experience & Biography
Shen Voon is a registered clinical psychologist with the Malaysian Allied Health Professionals Council (MAHPC(CP)00384) and the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (CP1-0465). She has always been passionate about working with children, adolescents, and parents, which motivated her to pursue an opportunity at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at a hospital in Taiwan. There, she collaborated with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, throughout her time at the hospital and during her practicum training for her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Pusat Perkhidmatan Pendidikan Khas (3PK) Putrajaya under the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Additionally, she volunteered with Buddy Bear, a suicide hotline dedicated to children and adolescents, to provide psychological first aid.
Beyond providing assessments and interventions for children and adolescents, Shen Voon recognizes the importance of involving parents in the treatment process. She believes that parents play a crucial role in their child’s life and should be equipped with effective parenting skills, which she promotes through parent training sessions. Moreover, she is dedicated to supporting children and adolescents’ academic progress by offering psychological evaluations and making recommendations to schools and teachers to enhance their learning experience.
