Child & Adolescent Therapy
When is child & adolescent therapy a good choice?
Therapy sessions for your child or teen will be suitable when:
- Your child or teen is displaying emotional and/ or behavioral difficulties that negatively impact their functioning at home, school, or other settings.
- Your child or teen had undergone an assessment, to which therapy sessions are part of the intervention or treatment plan highlighted in the assessment results.
- Your child or teen has a mental health diagnosis that could benefit from psychological therapy (e.g., depressive and anxiety disorders).
What are the outcomes of these sessions?
The therapy sessions are aimed towards improved mental, behavioral, and emotional factors and/ or achievement of therapy goals set between the psychologist and client. This may include academic (e.g., problem solve and follow a study plan), behavioral (e.g., reduce procrastination), relational (e.g., improve communication skills), and/ or mental health goals (e.g., treat depression, manage anger).
What to expect during the session?
In therapy sessions, the goal of each session is to facilitate personal growth and development towards accomplishing personal goals. This may be related to improving mental health concerns (e.g., treatment for depression, anxiety, etc.), or other academic, behavioral, or relational goals. Several sessions of individual therapy are expected to meet treatment goals and/ or observe positive gains.
What is the recommended age group and duration of the session?
Psychological therapy for children and teens are suitable for those between the ages of 4 to 20 years old.
Pre-school/ School-age children
45 – 50 mins of 1-to-1 session between psychologist and child, followed by 10 – 15 mins feedback and parent coaching.
Adolescents
1 hour 1-to-1 sessions. Parent feedback and/ or coaching provided if needed.
How much are the fees?
Clinical Psychologist
RM290/ session
RM990/ 4 sessions (package rate paid up-front). Package rates are valid for up to 6 months from the date or purchase and is not refundable or transferable.
Trainee Psychologist
RM70/ session
What are the type of cases that Bright Start Psychology Sdn. Bhd. is not able to consult on?
Bright Start Psychology Sdn. Bhd. and its professionals do not engage in cases that require assessment, therapy, provision of psychological documentation, or testimony for use in a court of law or for any other legal purpose(s).
Bright Start Psychology Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to decline such cases. In the event that such information have been withheld from the company and/ or the clinical psychologist, Bright Start Psychology Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to retain charged fees for services already provided and to decline follow-up of the case.
